1890 TAX RECORDS OF
ANDERSON COUNTY, TEXAS
CIVIL WAR VETERANS FROM THE
UNION ARMY 1890 CENSUS SCHEDULE
AT THE PRINTER'S NOW - AVAILABLE SOON
Published by the East Texas Genealogical Society
This 173-page book marks the completion of a six volume series
covering the 1890 tax records for the six counties represented by
the East Texas Genealogical Society - Anderson, Gregg, Henderson,
Panola, Rusk and Smith. The books contain vital resource material
to help fill the 20-year gap due to the loss of the 1890 Federal
Census by fire.
The 1890 Anderson County tax records were abstracted from microfilm
by Janice Brown and typed and indexed by Mathilda Underwood. The
tax records cover the Resident Rendition Roll, Non-Resident
Rendition Roll, Railroads Roll, and Unrendered Property Roll.
Because each of these four tax divisions are alphabetized
separately, and by the first letter of the surname only, a
composite taxpayer surname index is included.
Shown in five columns are the land owners, the original grantees,
the abstract number, the acres and the value of the land. If tax
was being paid on town lots, the name of the town where the lots
are located is shown.
The remaining 1890 records include seven pages of marriage records
d and the civil war veterans listed in the 1890 Federal Census
Schedule for Anderson County. Two maps are included as well as a
brief county history, information about the county historical
markers, library and genealogical societies, and their publication
