F ROM the dynamo of Coach Frank Kimbrough,'s
tremendous energy there has
been such startling changes and improvements
in the athletic departments that one
feels that he is in a different school than
the Hardin-Simmons of the past. With the
passing of years the Hardin-Simmons
athletic department has been gradually
forming and reforming, but with the com- KIMBROUGH
ing of Frank Kimbrough the movement
changed from a creeping, sluggish thing
to a leaping, alert, real live cowboy.
We cannot estimate the value Coach Kimbrough has been to the spirit, both inside and outside,
of the university, but we can in this feeble way pay tribute to the man who is responsible for
the turning of the destiny of Hardin-Simmons athletics, Coach Frank Kimbrough.
When Mr. Kimbrough was appointed there were many different opinions as to whether he would
make a go of the job or not. Many thousand pairs of eyes were turned on him as he came on the
campus as coach for the first time; some skeptical, but most with faith shining through. He had
a hard job to take care of; one that most men are just not man enough to do.
But Frank Kimbrough started the first day with a bang and the noise is growing louder every
day. He has gained the respect of every man on the squad, and has instilled in their hearts a fear
of the dominator, and a spirit of Hardin-Simmons that has never been accomplished before among
This man has made history for his alma mater, as is the ambition for thousands of other graduates,
many of whom never realize the burning thrill of such a feat. He has honored us and we
pause to honor him.
