The Pioneer Texas Heritage Committee and the Tarrant County Historical Society came together in the 1950s to create the Log Cabin Village, a compilation of actual historical structures aimed at providing education on Texas history and Texas life in the 19th century. They restored and furnished each structure with actual artifacts, and today the village is open to the public.
