Stores Open Late
For the convenience of last
minute Christmas shop-
pers, several Crosbyton
firms are keeping their
stores open later this week
through Thursday night.
No definite hours are
announced, but managers
say they will be open as
long as shoppers are in
town.
Participating in this effort
to accomodate the public
are: Ball's, Bee Hive,
Brashear's, Brister's Clock
Shop, Hide-A-Way, Fow-
ler's Sport — Gift Center,

December meeting of the
Crosby County E.S.A.
President Sybil Voigt and
Secretary Jean Long gave a
brief discussion of the Nov.
5-7 convention held in
Lubbock. They shared all
the events of the three day
convention with members
present.
The meeting was brought
to a close with a supper. Ail
members brought a cover^
ed dish of meat, salad,
vegetable, and dessert. Be-
fore dessert was served,
the members exchanged
gifts.
Members present were
Sybil Voigt, Patty Paddock,
Gene McDaniel and Jean
Long from Crosbyton: Pat
Brown and Joan McCaliis-
ter from Lorenzo; Joyce
Whitehead and Lydia Gon-
zales from Ralls.
Next meeting will be held
in January in Lorenzo. Each
member is asked to bring a
guest.

YULE CONES
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese,
softened
8 oz. Bleu cheese, crumbled
3 Tbsp. minced onion
54 lb. liverwurst
1 Tbsp. sour cream
54 tsp. dry mustard
Dash of hot pepper sauce
1 lb. Cheddar cheese, shredded
54 cup dry sherry
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
% tsp. paprika
Combine cream cheese. Bleu cheese and 2 Tbsp. minced onion. Chill;
divide in half, forming into cone-shaped mounds. Combine
liverwurst, sour cream, 1 Tbsp. minced onion, mustard and hot
pepper sauce. Beat well. Spread over cones. Chill until firm. Combine
shredded Cheddar cheese, sherry, Worcestershire sauce and paprika.
Beat with electric mixer until smooth. Use to ffost cones. Cover with
pecan halves to resemble pine cones. Cover carefully and chill several
hours or overnight. Serve with crackers. Yield: 2 cones.
SPICED NUTS
2 cups pecan halves
1 cup sugar
V* tsp. grated orange rind
1 tsp. cinnamon
Vt tsp. salt
118 tsp. cream of tartar
% cup orange juice
concentrate, thawed
Toast pecan halves at 350 degrees for. 10 minutes. Set aside. Combine
sugar, orange rind, cinnamon, salt, cream of tartar and orange juice
concentrate in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat to 238 degrees F.
(soft ball stage). Remove from heat; add nuts and stir until syrup
sugars. Pour immediately onto waxed paper and separate. Yield: 2
cups.
PRAIRIE FIRE
1 115 oz.) can ranch style
beans, undrained
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 onion, chopped
1/3 lb. sharp Cheddar
cheese, grated
2 jalapeno peppers
1 clove of garlic
Place all ingredients into a blender container. Blend until mixture is
smooth. Place in fondue pot and keep warm while serving. Serve with
chips. Yield: 2-V4 cups.
PEACH GLAZE
% cup peach preserves 1-'/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1 Tbsp. water % cup flaked coconut
Heat preserves and water in small saucepan. Remove fropri heat; stir
in powdered sugar. Spread over top of warm cake, allowing glaze to
drip over sides. Sprinkle coconut over top.

Tammy Hudman, a
17-year-old Crosbyton High
junior, underwent back sur-
gary Friday afternoon at
Methodist Hospital in Lub-
bock. Miss Hudman recent-
ly spent time in the hospital
for treatment of the back
ailment. The daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Hudman is in Room 493
East, in Methodist Hos-
pital.
