Guided beach walk tomorrow
Walk off a few of those holiday
pounds at the guided beach walk
tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 28.
Residents and visitors are invited
2008 Meander
Walk, run
at 2:08 p.m.
Kick off the New Year with a little
exercise by participating in the 2008
Meander.
The two-mile fun run or 2008-
meter walk will begin promptly at
2:08 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 1. Meet
at the Community Park at the end of
Ross Ave., to meander with residents
and visitors alike.
Sponsored by the City of Port
Aransas Parks and Recreation
Department, the event is free and
open to the public.
to learn about what washes ashore
on the beaches of Mustang Island as
winter approaches.
The guided beach walk sponsored
by the Port Aransas Parks and Recre-
ation Department promises to reveal
the secrets of the sea.
The free walk will start at 9 a.m. by
the red flag next to Horace Caldwell
Pier.
Leading the walk will be Capt.
Steve Zarych.
The walks are held on the fourth
Friday of each month.
Beach walkers should wear appro-
priate shoes and clothing and bring a
container for any treasurers found.

'Noon Year's Eve'
celebration slated
Celebrate the arrival of 2008 a little
early with music and fellowship at the
Noon Year's Eve event scheduled by
the City of Port Aransas Parks and
Recreation Department.
The community is invited to join
the department from 11 a.m. to 1
p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, at the Fred
Rhodes Memorial Pavilion in Roberts
Point Park. ^
The cost of participating is a pot-
luck dish to share, and attendees may
bring their own beverages.
Non-alcoholic beverages will be
