This August issue will only reach our First Class subscribers
and our email subscribers prior to our August 4-8 Indianapolis
National Reunion. The September issue should contain some
information of the events that transpired in Indianapolis along
with some photographs.
The Indianapolis Reunion promises to be a lively one with
plenty of things to do including an inside tour of the famous
Speedway. I am looking forward to it and hope you are too.
Barbara Campbell and her husband have spent a lot of time
organizing the event so that everyone will enjov themselves.
Let's make sure we acknowledge their efforts. ★
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE (continuedfrom page 1)
It's hard to keep everyone happy but we try to do our best.
There are some exceptions like the Eastern Chapter reunion
and other regional reunions. Even more people drive to those
reunions so they are not necessarily near major airline hubs.
We have been having it at the Best Western Country Cupboard
in Lewisburg, PA. That's not so easy to get to, but people really
like the Amish food and the great hospitality. Shutting down
the Eastern Chapter was discussed but never voted on. But the
resounding message was to keep having the Eastern meeting
so we will try to keep them going. If people need rides to the
reunion they should let us know. Maybe we can get you in a
car pool with some other people passing by your way.
Many thanks to Vince Mancinelli and the original
committee for all their work with the Eastern reunions over
the years and we hope to have their continued support and
advice going forward. Hopefully some of the other chapters
can keep going as well. Moving the midweek reunions to the
weekend might help make it easier for people to attend.
Talk to the younger generation members in your family and
invite them along to these reunions. They probably gave up
asking to come along years ago. But now is the time to invite
them to come and hear the stories and detailed history of
WW2, especially as it relates to the 12th Armored Division.
Our good friends Lise Pommois and Dr. Monroe Jones
will be at the Indy reunion as well. I will try to have some
copies of Dr. Jones' book at the reunion and perhaps Dr. Jones
can autograph it for you there as well. Lise will be checking
to see if there is interest in another tour to Europe focusing on
the drive through Germany. If there is enough interest, maybe
we would try to have it later in the summer after schools are
out.
The 12th is a great organization and its veterans have done
great things. But the job is not done as Dr. Brendan Phibbs
tells us, we still have a job to do get out there and tell people
what really happened back then. There are many that say
those things like the Holocaust never happened, but they did,
and we have to continually educate the newer generations. We
will have the video camera to conduct more video interviews.
So make sure you have done at least one video interview. You
all still have amazing stories to tell. Do us a favor and tell us a
little bit about any special event before the interview starts so
