Mrs. Hopper Reports - -
Please forgive my husband, Claude,
for the obnoxious article that he
sent you for the January issue
of the Hellcat News. It is true
that he is a dues paying country
boy, but I think he is getting soft
in the head. When he says that
he is leaning toward pacification,
he means that he is getting to old
to fight for what he wants. He is
becoming one of those "Hippies"
I read about who are also paci-
fists. When he inferred that his
leaning was toward being a lover
he really pulled a boner. He lost
that ability years ago.
I sent a copy of the Hellcat News
to our son in Vietnam, as I usually
do, and he sent back a letter that
really scalded the thin skin off my
husband's back. Our boy was so
mad at Claude for expressing such
a distatseful view to the men that
he had fought with, that he all but
accused him of leading a com-
munistic front organization to be-
little the members of his associ-
ation.
We hope to see you in Phila-
delphia, but I promise that I'll
not let Claude make speeches
against America's desire to hold
her head high.
Sincerely yours,
Maude Hopper
EDITOR'S NOTE: Claude and
Maude Hopper are frequent con-
tributors to our Hellcat News
Enjoyable as their articles are
nobody seems to know who they
