The New Year of2008 is here and on behalf
of the officers of the 12th Armored Division
Association, I would wish the best of Health
and Happiness to all the members and their
families, and the many friends and supporters
of the association.
As usual, the New Year brings new oppor-
tunities and new challenges. We must make
the most of the time we have to strengthen
the legacy members, we must continue to record our individual
military history, ensure that the Hellcat News continues publication
as long as possible. The memory of the 12th Armored Division
should continue for another 62 years.
At the end of last September, as many of you know, we lost our
printer and our editor. The printing firm that printed the Hellcat
News for many years decided to fold up. About the same time
our editor quit. We were out of the Hellcat News business. John
Critzas worked feverously to find a printing firm that was willing
to take over the task at a reasonable price in the same format.
He found a printer in Abilene, TX, and in addition took over the
difficult job of the editor. After much hard work, the result was the
combined October/November Hellcat News. I am sure that every
Hellcat that waited for his copy to arrive will admit that it was
worth the wait and is one of the best issues in many a year. We
owe Hellcat John E. Critzas a large debt of gratitude.
In the Hellcat News someone remarked that we have had
two very successful and enjoyable reunions (2006 Minneapolis/
Bloomington and 2007 Cincinnati/Ft. Mitchell). We are now
looking forward to the 2008 Reunion in Abilene, TX, Aug. 13 to
17, 2008. If you have not visited Abilene to see our museum, this
will be the chance of a lifetime. If you have seen the museum, you
will enjoy it all the more.
With the holidays behind us we can begin to plan our year of
activities which includes the 2008 12th Armored Division Reunion
in Abilene, TX. Let us all strive to make this a memorable reunion
with as many attending as possible.
E.F. Waszak, President
The Council reminds all "that no activity shall be authorized which
would conflict with the annual reunion date."
