It is surely nice to be hearing
from Vernon White (B) 715
Laramie St., Manhattan, Kansas
66502. He writes "A lot of the
boys will remember me as the
aged mess Sergeant that was
classified as being too old to go
overseas with the outfit. I fin-
ished my army career as a first
sergeant in a pack mule training
outfit in Fort Reno, Okla. I have
many pleasant memories of fri—
-ends and experiences while I was
in the twelfth Armored." He sent
in his dues and a booster. Vernon
served some mighty fine food and
some good coffee and pastry for
the coffee breaks.
Salvatore Jaramille (HQ) has
been wondering when a reunion
would be held in the San Fran-
cisco area. Better yet, the West
Coast chapter will be getting to-
gether practically in his own
back yard on the week end of
May 29th, 1971. West coast mem-
bers should, if interested in at-
tending, contact Mr. and Mrs.
Robert J. Schwartz, 4345 Purdue
Ave., Los Angeles, Cal. 90066 or
telephone code 213; 839-9460.
Robert was in C-495th F. A. The
reunion will be at the Disneyland
Hotel in Anaheim. Arrange-
ments may be made for the dinn-
er only on the 29th. Eleanor and
I will be unable to attend since
we plan to be in Alaska at that
time.
Warren Maue (A) RR No. 2.
Box 154, Germantown, Ohio
45327 is still working on getting
Dayton, Ohio as the site for the
1972 reunion. This seems to be a
good site and the reunion would
be in most capable hands if the
site committee would seem to be
favorable to the place. If you
would like to see the reunion in
Dayton, at some future time,
why not drop Warren a line.
Warren and Edna recently visit-
ed Francis Robv (A). Francis
has about a year and a half to
go before retirement from the
post office department. He has
three children; one married, one
in college and one in high school.
Francis and his wife might be in
Milwaukee for the reunion.
Warren also reported that Junior
Foster (A) has had some illness
in the family but are now OK.
We had a Christmas card and
note from Richard Franks (C).
Richard is a school principal in
a county adjoining Cleveland,
Ohio. He has done well in the
teaching profession even though
he did not enter it until many
years after his discharge from
the army with a serious dis-
ability from stopping some of
"Hitlers Hardware" at Herrlish-
eim I. His wife, Lillian, has re-
cently been certified as a school
psychologist. They have two
daughters; one a high school
junior and the other in the 8th
grade.
Also, a note from Lee Jeter
(Sv) 936 N. Grand, Mesa, Ariz.
85201. Lee is now an engineer on
one of the few steam powered
trains remaining in the U.S. The
railroad is a short one but just
as wide as any of them. Lee plans
to retire about the first of July.
The steam engine is sometimes
used in movie making as in "How
the West was won".
Ruth and Fred Bixby (A) re-
gret that they will be unable to
attend the 71 reunion since their
daughter is being married on
July 10th. Their vacation in
Florida after the 1970 reunion
was marred by extreme heat and
three flat tires so they were
happy to get back to Rochester.
It is believed John Josefowski
(Hq) is the only former member
of the 12th that occasionally still
has to furnish proof of age in
order to buy a drink. The ladies
would surely like to know John's
secret. Does anyone else that was
in the 12th Armored still have to
furnish proof that they are over
21 in order to buy a drink?
The 12th Armored Division
members will greatly appreciate
the efforts of Clair Mummert
(Hq) for his organization of the
European tour. Clair merely sug-
gested the idea a few times at the
reunions and was handed, not
volunteered, the job of organiz-
ing the tour in 1969. The tour
has now met with a much great-
er response than ever expected,
Ruth and Clair have always been
active in the association affairs
and have contributed greatly to
its success. He reports that the
wild game doesn't get hurt much
when he goes a hunting. It could
be that he spent the most of his
army time doing the necessary
work in the Communications
halftrack "Chicken Yard" instead
of the rifle range.
In Milwaukee visit the "Astro-Domes of Nature", The
Tropical House, The Desert House, and the Show Dome,
displaying exciting varities of living trees, shrubs, cacti
and flowers from all over the world.

(Congratulations! to you Sidney.
More of us should give more
time to the youth of our com-
munity. Sidney, I don't know
why your Xmas greeting wasn't
printed the past two years. I am
sorry to hear this. I feel sure
when you send in this years
greeting and tell Harold what
happened, he will make some
concession.) Sidney woud like to
know the address of Polly Pol-

stroke in June, 1966 another in
July, 1966. He spent about 44
days in the hospital; hasn't been
able to return to work since
then. This past summer arthritis
was found in his back and right
hip. The stroke hit his left side.
A1 gets the Hellcat news but
didn't see his name mentioned
about the memorial.
Joe Kaus, B 119th Engr. Box
407, R.D. No. 7, Greensburg, Pa.
15601. Libby Kaus writes that
she is tired of sweeping snow.
Joe has a heart condition and
that gives her the snow removal
detail. Joe had his car hit before
Xmas so he decided to buy a
red Olds so he can be seen better
by all those fast drivers. (Glad
you didn't get hurt.)
Joe Jean, B 119th Eng 654
