Stasney's Cook Ranch was one
of several wildlife randies all over
the state that recently sponsored a
Youth Opportunity Iluift coordi
nated by the Texas Came Wardens
Association:
A total of 10 boys hunted at the
Cook Ranch last Wednesday, along
with eight game wardens from
around the area
The youths included six boys
from Albany, two from Throck-
morton and two from Eastland.
•Eighteen deer, strictly does, were
harvested by the young hunters
during the special event.
This is the second time that the
Stasneys have hosted a Youth
Opportunity H unt. The concept Was
initiated by the Parks and Wildlife
Department to create in youth an
interest in arid, appreciation for
wildlife.
Game wardens participating in
the hunt were local warden Sammy
Rippey, along w ith Kenneth Payne,
Dick Corley, Ronnie Brooks, Steve
Barbour, Check Vest., Steve
Medford, and Curtis Jones.
Also assisting with the event
were local DPS officer BobSkelton,
Sheriff I>arry Bonner, Shackelford
County Agent Rocky Vinson, and
Albany ag teacher Jim Leech.
From the ranch staff were Dan
''Brady,.. Paul Ivy, Guy Ellis, and
Vernon Heatley.

The special orientation and sign-

their patents svill begin at; 6:00
p.m. in the Education Building of
the, Mat thews .Memorial Presbyte-
rian Church.
If there, are enough adult lead-
ers, second and third graders may
also get to participate on the
Children's Bible Drill teams, and
their parents are also encouraged
to'attend today's meeting
Older children in junior high
and high school may participate as,
assistant leaders.
The prc^T'? has a three-fold
purpose.;— to help children increase
in knowledge of the Bibie, develop '
skills in effectively handling the
•Bible, and begin developing
memory skills. It is being sponsored
by the churches of Albany-
