CIAiilFIED
This is the first time since 1951
that the Murines have offered the
twoyear enlistment plan Besides the
new two year policy married men
with no children or single men
with one dependent can be accepted
for the Marino Corps
With this new enlistment policy
the U S Marino Corps can offer
all qualified young men three different
enlistments They are the
two years the three year and the
four year enlistment terms
Anyone desiring additional information
about any of the above policies
can contact their local Leatherneck
recruiter SSgt Williams at the
Post Office BIdg Amarillo Texas
Many Panhandle farmers and
ranches have already filed tax returns
for the 1955 calendar years
John R Sanderson Social Security
Administration Amarillo Texas announced
today This year for the
first time they have paid selfem
ployment tax for social security protection
Sanderson emphasized that
all farmers who netted 400 or more
in 1955 from farming must file these
returns by April 15 1956 Proper
tax returns and advice concerning
taxes can be obtained from the
District Director of Internal Revenue
Amarillo
Sanderson explained This social
security credit will mean much to
farm families Suppose we take the
case of a young farmer with a wife
and child His earnings up to 4200
a year are taxable for social security
In the event he should die
soon after the close of his second
crop year under social security and
had made the maximum of 4200 in
both years the widow and small
child would receive a monthly benefit
of 15280
Few farmers make 4200 a year

Sanderson continued Let us consider
an instance where the farmer
makes 1200 a year on an average
At that rate he can qualify for 55
per month when he is 65 His wife
after reaching 65 may qualify for
2750 per month or a total of 8250
for the two If a farmer who makes
1200 each year two crop years if
the minimum requirement after 1951
should die survived by a widow and
two young children 8250 could be
paid them every month terminating
when the youngest child reaches 18
Payments to the widow could be resumed
when she reaches G5
Write your Social Security Office
in Amarillo Texas for a booklet
showing the benefits payable
farm families under social security
Sanderson invited And dont overlook
the filing of that tax return before
April 15 1956 he cautioned
