Dear Editor:
Responses to the
Montague County Child
Welfare Board's Deep in
the Heart of Texas Ranch
Rodeo in Bowie and subse-
quent Gala at Daddy Sam's
in Nocona have been over-
whelming. The generosity
of the citizens of our com-
munities was fantastic, and
generated funds which will
enable us to meet many
needs of neglected and
abused children in
Montague County. Our
problems are county-wide,
and the support of friends of
the Child Welfare Board
from the various towns in
the County was impressive
We have one of the worst
records in the state for child
abuse and neglect, largely
due to drug abuse by the
parents. During this next
year the Child Welfare
Board will work toward
drug education initiatives
and the establishment of a
Child Advocacy Center,
where child care profession-
als can come together with
affected children to help
with their difficult situa-
tions.
The help of everyone is
solicited and we are greatly
thankful for all the contribu-
tions and support we have
received. If you would like
to help, please contact us at
montaguechil-
dren@gmail.com.
Sincerely
Clint Brown

Letters -
I watched a report about
the Hindenburg which
caught on fire before land-
ing. They seem to leave out
one thing however.
If the pilot had flown
directly to the place and
landed instead of the sigh-
seeing tour they may have
made it there safely.
They say it was a weath-
er related disaster. What if
they had gotten there earli-
er? They could have avoid-
ed the weather 1
Something to think about
now, isn't it?

As a owner and operator
of a business in Montague
County I felt compelled to
write this Letter to the
Editor.
Through the month of
September my place of
business experienced one
break-in and theft of materi-
als and equipment on three
different occasions. The cost
of materials and equipment
has exceeded $9,000.
When Sheriffs deputies
responded on all three calls
they were courteous and
professional while making
reports and checking things
out. When I called Sheriff
Paul Cunningham about
extra patrol in the area his
response was "We only
have one deputy per eight
hour shift to patrol all of
Montague County."
All three crimes on my
business were committed
after midnight and before
day light. Personally I think
we need more than one
deputy patrolling all of
Montague County during
the night hours.
Keep in mind I am not
criticizing or blaming the
Sheriffs Department or the
County Commissioners, but
I would like to see some-
thing worked out for more
patrolling after midnight
and before day light.

Letter to the Editor:
What a fabulous after-
noon Nocona senior citizens
had at the Carpenter's Shop
Open House on Sunday!
Most everyone left with a
door prize, a full tummy,
and a big smile, thanks to
the many volunteers that
helped and all of the
Nocona merchants that
donated goods and services
for the event.

seniors that came out on a
dreary day. You certainly
brightened our day, and our
hope is that you will come
back soon and often. We

Talking to a golf ball won't

you do it while your oppo-
