Hon. John F. Williams, an old lawyer
nnd valued citizen of Marshall, died on
last Sunday.
Mrs. Inghut died at Comfort on the 23d
ultimo.
A child about three years «»ld, of a wo-
man living in hast Dallas, was, on Tues-
day laM, set upon by a savage sow, biting
pieces out of it, and would have killed it
had not some kcIi ol children diivcn the
brute off. Then followed a report that the ! with
ww was mad and she was killed. The city !

Liberty county, G orgia, on the night of
the 20th ult, one Samuel Gauldin went to
the house of Simon Osgood, who lives in
Liberty county, to inquire about a debt
which Gauldin o.vel Osgood, and which
Osgood had given to a constable t> collect.
There was a dispute, and Simon Osgood
who is an old man, with three of his sons
and a grown daughter, seized Gauldin and
beat him terribly with sticks fence rails
and a hoe. He died the next day. Two of
hi** sons, Henry anil 'Raymond, are grown
young men; the other, James is a youth of
13 years. The girl, kllen is about 19.
Henry escaped, but all the others were ar-
rested, and on Wednesday and Thursday
were tried. The old man Simon, was
found guilty of manslaughter, and sens
ter.ee 1 to twenty years in the penitentiary;
Raymond and Ellen were convicted of
murder and sentenced to be hanged on
Thursday, the 19th of December; and
James convicted of involuntary man-
slaughter, was nenteiiced to one year in the
