Texas Historical Foundation
The visual history of our state is
being lost at an enormous rate.
Family collections are being destroyed
at the death of the owner,
because heirs are not interested in
preserving them. Many business
collections are similarly lost or
destroyed,. Photographs are also
damaged through disintegration
and environmental destruction.
Being alert to important historic
photographs, and helping to preserve
them, is a task that every
citizen interested in historic preservation
can participate in.
If you know of a group of photographs
of an historic nature that
are uncatalogued or unknown to
researchers in the state, regardless
of their condition or subject matter,
please notify the Foundation.
The information can be made a
part of a future update of our recent
publication, Photographic Collections
If you know of institutions or
individuals with collections of
historic photographs they wish to
preserve, please ask them to contact
us. We have information
about archives within the state
capable of cataloging and preserving
historic photographic collections,
as well as specialists who can
advise on the preservation of collections
to be kept in personal
