HISTORY
Abilene Christian College opened its doors for the first time in
September, 1906. Its opening was rather unpretentious; but its purposes
and ideals were not mean. Under the presidency of A. B.
Barrett, about twenty-five students were enrolled during this session.
From this time its growth was slow but constant, impeded somewhat
by abnormal economic conditions and other unavoidable misfortunes.
The present president accepted his office in the summer
of 1912 and as a result of a determined campaign the enrollment was
more than quadrupled during the following session. Since then the
institution has constantly and rapidly advanced in material equipment,
in enrollment, in size and scholarshp of faculty, and in scope
of curriculum. As a junior college it has enjoyed the highest rating
accorded colleges of its class and as its natural growth has led inevitably
to the step which it now takes in enlarging itself into a full
college, the management feels that the only wise thing to do is to
take this step.OUR LOCATION IS IDEAL
