12 ABILENE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE
and there is a large reception parlor. It is heated with gas and newly
furnished throughout. Brother and Sister Holton, Brother and Sister
Morlan, and the single male members of the faculty will live in this
building and do their best to make it a delightful home for our boys.
This is a new substantial frame building, well lighted and heated
with gas. It is equipped with new modern apparatus for general
science, chemistry and physics.
The building formerly used for the boys is now used as a Girls'
Industrial Home. This is a good comfortable frame structure, with
modern improvements. The rooms are large and each one has a
gas stove. These rooms are rented to girls unable to pay full board.
Under the direction of a competent teacher they buy their own
food and do their own work. In this way they save on their expenses
and at the same time get training in economy and home-making,
which will be of lasting value to them. Room in this building is
limited. If you desire a place in it you should write early.
NEW ADMINISTRATION BUILDING.
This is to be a $20,000.00 brick and concrete building, modern in
every respect. It will provide a much needed chapel, music department,
and plenty of large class rooms.
The General Library-A choice circulating library has been built
up gradually, which now numbers over 3500 volumes. The working
value of the library is greatly increased by the use of a series of card
indexes from which the student can find all the volumes in the library
treating any given subject. We have a well chosen collection of magazines,
daily newspapers, and religious periodicals.
The Reference Library-The design is to furnish students all the
desirable assistance, by means of encyclopedias, dictionaries, and leading
text-books. In this department we have over 1,000 volumes. The
library is furnished with seven sets of standard encyclopedias.
Daisy Hall-Bro. Sewell's private library of over 700 volumes is
open to any student of A. C. C.
.. Carnegie Library-This is a splendid public library of several
thousand volumes, which is maintained by the city of Abilene at a
cost of $1800 a year. Our students have free access to this library.
