SESSION OF 1918-'19
A WORD TO THE CHURCHES
In nearly every community there is at least one young man who
wants to preach. As a rule our preachers come from the humble
walks of life. Many a young man could be trained for a great worth in
the Master's vineyard if he had the means with which to secure an
education. Any congregation of seventy-five or more members can
easily educate one young man. Abilene Christian College offers free
tuition to men who are preaching; the school session lasts thirty-six
weeks; $250.00 will be sufficient for board, room, books, and incidentals;
during the sixteen vacation weeks any energetic young man
can make and save enough money to pay one-half of the next year's
school expenses; as soon as he is able to preach acceptably, keep him
busy "holding meetings" during the summer months and save precious
souls for Christ.
Think of the great work that would be done if every congregation
that is able would send one young man to school every year; not only
the home field but also the foreign fields would rejoice under the
sound of the gospel herald's voice.
Please fill out attached blank at your earliest convenience and
send it to us. so that we may know we can depend on you for a definite
sum for next session. This money will be loaned to worthy young
men, and when returned will be loaned to others. Thus it becomes
a perpetual fund.
You buy liberty bonds to help train soldiers for the Civil Government,
now render unto God the things that are His, and fill out one
of these blanks for enough to keep a boy in school a year if possible,
and help to train soldiers for the army of the Lord. If you can't do
that well, make it as much as you can and see if you can't get others
to join you. Won't you do this?
