The matter of certificates qualifying the holders thereof
to teach in the public schools of Texas is entirely controlled
by state legislation. The present laws of Texas provide for
the certification of students of Abilene Christian College
along with those of other similar institutions on the following
1. Three kinds of certificates are issued.
a. Elementary certificates, which are valid for four
years, or for six years, or may become permanent,
depending upon the amount of work done by the applicant,
as given below. These certificates are valid
only in grades one to seven inclusive.
b. Temporary High School certificates, valid for two
years, for four years, or for six years, depending upon
the amount of work done by the applicant, as outlined
below. These certificates are valid for all grades of
public school work.
c. Permanent High School certificates, valid for all
