46 ABILENE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE
HOW STUDENTS MAY BE ADMITTED.
1. BY CERTIFICATE OF GRADUATION.
Students coming from Texas schools classified and accredited
by the State Department of Education upon presentation of a
certificate with a statement giving in detail the amount of work
in each subject and the grade made will be admitted. The diploma
will not suffice. Please attend to this before leaving home.
Negligence will cause a delay in registration.
2. BY INDIVIDUAL APPROVAL.
At the discretion of the Dean an applicant over twenty-one
years of age may be admitted without examination. He will be
credited with such work as he shall have completed; but such
credit may be only tentative and be further tested by work in
class. Persons who have been in school recently are not expected
to be in this class.
3. BY EXAMINATION.
Any student who does not meet the requirements of either of
the two methods described above can enter only by examination.
Examinations will be given the first week of residence of the
student.
The following classes of applicants are required to take examinations
for entrance units:
(1) Those coming from unaffiliated schools must be examined
or otherwise tested in all subjects on which they would receive
credit.
(2) Graduates from affiliated high schools or holders of
any teachers' certificates, whose approved units are less than fifteen
will be examined for the remaining number of units.
(3) Students from affiliated high schools who are not graduates,
will be required to take examination on all subjects on
which they expect credit.
In all cases, if a student, after being permitted to enter a college
in any department, fails to demonstrate his ability to carry
the course with satisfaction to the professor in charge, the amount
of credit (entrance or college) given may be reduced or cancelled,
and he may be required to enter a lower class.
