Bible 192.-A study in Hebrews. The spring term will consist
of careful outline of the book and study of its contents. A
book of outside parrallel on the Apostolic Age is required.
213.-Development of the history of the Israelites from the
birth of Samuel to the establishment of the Kingdom under David.
I and II Samuel.
223.-The Reign of Solomon; The Divided Kingdom; The
Rise and Fall of the Northern Kingdom; The Progress and Decay
of the Southern Kingdom. The prophetical books will be considered
in their time order and studied in connection with the
events calling forth the prophecies contained therein. Obadiah,
Joel, Jonah, Amos, Hosea, Isaiah, Micah, Nahum, Jeremiah (in
the beginning of his ministry), Zephaniah, Habakkuk. Continuation
233.-Exile and Restoration. II Kings and II Chronicles;
Daniel. Continuation of 223.
313.-Interpretation and Exegesis. The fall term is given to
a study of the principles of interpretation (Lockhart's text.)
Close touch is had with the books and the text of the Scriptures.
The texts selected will be from the Old Testament. Particular
attention will be given to prophecy.
323.-Following Bible 313 which gives principles and examples
of interpretation, this course makes a similar study of the
Gospels and Acts. McGarvey's outlines are followed largely from
the harmony of McGarvey and Pendleton. This course is more
exegetical than Bible 383, but is not so comprehensive and does
not touch the problems of criticism or historical interpretation.
The Sermon on the Mount and other great passages are closely
outlined. Considerable memory work is done. Continuation
333.-The spring term in this course is devoted to studies in
the Epistles. Grubb's Exegetical Analysis is used as the basis of
study. Vital passages are selected from several of the letters of
Paul, Hebrews, or the other books. The year closes as it began;
the principles of interpretation are applied in consideration of
ABILEE:NE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE:
