ENGLISH BIBLE.
For description of courses in English Bible see the Department
of Bible in the College of Arts and Sciences (pages 55 to
59). The student will notice that in this Department extensive
courses in Bible are given, all of which are credited in the College
of Arts and Sciences and tend to absolve requirements for a
degree in liberal arts.
The requirements in Bible for graduation in the various
courses previously outlined in the College of the Bible (see
pages 89 to 93) may be met by the required number of hours
of work done in any of the various courses in the Bible department
of the College of Arts and Sciences referred to above.
OLD TESTAMENT INTERPRETATION.
OLD TESTAMENT (English)
Comprehensive study of the entire Old Testament. The events
will be considered in their chronological order and in connection
with secular history showing the gradual unfolding of God's
revelation with special emphasis upon His great redemptive
work. Schools of criticism will be discussed and questions as to
the origin and composition of the books will be touched on. From
the archeological and historical data we shall learn much of the
political, social, and religious environments. Synopsis of all the
books must be mastered. The various periods of Old Testament history
will be traced in order, and the prophecies preparing for
the Messiah and pointing to His coming will be especially pointed
out. The course closes with a study of post-exilic history and
the last of the minor prophets.

Aw.-From Samuel to Nehemiah. Three hours a week.As.-Prophetical books; poetical books; post-exilic history.
