The Optimist is a weekly college paper published by the students.
It is entirely in the hands of our students.
The Prickly Pear
The Prickly Pear is the College Annual. It is a neat book, and
reflects all sides of college life from its more serious phases to the
jokes and pranks which grow out of warm friendship and good will.
A. C. C. Bible Lectures
This is a book containing the lectures which are delivered during
the Lecture Week. The first volume came from the press last winter.
The Linesman is a literary magazine edited by The A Club, dedicated
to the stimulation of a greater interest in forensics and to clean
and wholesome student-activities. It is published quarterly.
The advantages of attending college are not confined to the textbooks.
Students need some sort of work outside of their regular
school work. "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." Change
of occupation, and not idleness, rests and develops the mind. Believing
co-operation and organization necessary in order that the most good
may be realized, we require each student to become a member of at
least one of the student organizations.
This organization is composed of young women. The club furnishes
some splendid music for our friends.
All students who play orchestral instruments by note are urgently
requested to bring them along. There is nothing that adds to the
pleasures of student life more than a good orchestra.
This organization is maintained for the purpose of developing
singers among our boys. During the year the Glee Club gives several
programs. It is our purpose to make at least two trips during
the coming year.
