(4) Senior students whose deans recommend correspondence study to
provide a prescribed course not currently scheduled in residence or to eliminate
a conflict in schedule.
(5) Ambitious persons who desire, while pursuing a vocation, to study
for cultural improvement or vocational efficiency.
(6) High school students who desire to complete their high school education.Regulations: (1) Applicants who have met the requirements for college
entrance are admissible to-correspondence study. They may begin a
course at any time.
(2) Credit in a course of three semester hours can be granted in a minimum
of forty-five days and a maximum of one year from the date of registration.
A course may be renewed for three months for $1.00 if renewed
within twelve months after expiration.
(3) A resident student in this or other institutions is allowed to register
by correspondence, or to continue correspondence work already in progress
only with the approval of his dean. If a correspondence student entering
in residence is required to drop his correspondence work, he will be given
an extension equal to the period of his resident enrollment. High school
students must have the approval of the high school principal or superintendent.(4) Not more than one-half of the hours required for a degree may be
earned by correspondence, and a maximum of twelve semester hours is
allowed in one academic session for students engaged in full time employment.EXAMINATIONS
In every course pursued for credit a final examination under the supervision
of an official examiner is a requirement. The student should
send his application, with a fee of $1.00, at the close of the course.
Graduating seniors must send their application for final examination
in time to reach this office fifteen days before the date on which the complete
credit must be on record with your Registrar.
Credit and Transcripts: Courses designed primarily for the individual
classes are numbered 300 to 319 for freshmen, 220 to 249 and 320 to
349 for sophomores, 250 to 299 and 350 and above for juniors and seniors.
All courses are fully accredited by the Association of Texas Colleges
and the State Department of Education. A transcript of credit can be issued
by the college Registrar upon request of the student after the course
is completed.
Fees: Tuition: Five dollars and fifty cents per semester hour. High
school courses $10.00 for each one-half credit.
Payment of the tuition fee entitles the student to the instruction service,
return postage on graded papers, and a supply of paper and envelopes
on which to submit the assignments. All fees are payable in advance
and are not refunded. A correspondence course may not be exchanged
to another course nor transferred to another person.
HOW TO REGISTER
The student should select the course or courses desired, fill out and return
the enrollment form, together with his fees, to the Director of Extension,
Abilene Christian College, Abilene, Texas.
Books and Supplies: All textbooks and other supplies may be ordered
through the Extension Department by making a deposit. Rental fees in
our special Rental Library range from $0.25 to $2.50 per volume.
Instructions: As soon as the student's application for enrollment is approved,
the entire group of lessons with instructions is sent to him. After
the student studies the assignment, the directions, and the testing questions,
he is to submit the first installment to the Exension Office, where it
will be recorded and handed the instructor for grading. Meanwhile he
may proceed with the next assignment pending return of installment one.
