Abilene Christian College is a private, fouryear
college which offers a BS degree in Industrial
Education-a unique feature for such institutions
in the Southwest.
The Industrial Education Department offers
two degrees in this field of study-the Bachelor
of Science and the Bachelor of Science in
Education. Graduates with Bachelor of Science
degrees enter various industries in technical,
managerial, and administrative positions. Bachelor
of Science in Education graduates enter the
teaching profession.
The Department of Industrial Education
serves five primary purposes: to prepare teachers
of industrial arts in the field of secondary and
higher education; to prepare broadly trained industrial
workers in the areas of industrial technology;
to assist students in developing interesting,
healthful, and worthwhile leisure time and
avocational activities; to provide general and
supplementary education for students in other
fields that will help them understand some of the
common tools, materials, processes, skills, and
products of industry; and to help students appreciate
the importance of work-skills in an industrial
economy.
Faculty members of the department hold
office and possess membership in the following
professional associations:
National Association of Industrial and
Technical Teacher Educators
American Council of Industrial Art Teacher
Educators
