JMC 117 Introduction to Telecommunication (3-3-3), fall, spring.
An introduction to electronic media covering such topics as history,
technology, regulation, news, advertising, programming, audience
research, business practices, social impact, ethical issues, and careers. Lab
requires working with the campus radio and television stations. Required
lab grade must be C to pass course.
JMC 260 Video Production I (3-3-3), fall, spring. An introduction to
the fundamentals of video production, including videography, editing,
directing, producing, performance, audio, graphics, set design, and
lighting. Required lab grade must be C to pass course. Prerequisite:
JMC 117, 223. Course fee: $25.
JMC 315 Radio Workshop (1-3-1), fall, spring. Staff work on radio
station KLGP or KACU. Minimum of one staff meeting and three hours
of station operations per week. May be repeated for 3 hours credit.
Prerequisites: JMC 110, 111, 117.
JMC 316 Television Workshop (1-3-1), fall, spring. Program
production in ACU Video. Minimum of one meeting and three hours of
operations per week. May be repeated for 3 hours credit. Prerequisite:
JMC 260. Course fee: $25.
JMC 338 Broadcast News (3-3-3), fall. A study of news gathering,
writing, and production for broadcast. Lab work includes news
preparation and presentation on the campus radio or television station.
Required lab grade must be C to pass course. Prerequisites: JMC 223,
117, and 260.
MC 460 Video Production II (3-3-3), fall, spring. Advanced study of
television production including videography, editing, lighting, producing,
and directing. Required lab grade must be C to pass course.
Prerequisite: JMC 260. Course fee: $25.
JMC 462 Broadcast Advertising (3-0-3), fall, spring. In depth study
of radio, cable, and television advertising history, audience and message
research methods, sales and buying strategies, creative strategy, writing
and production techniques.
JMC 464 Religious Broadcasting (3-0-3), on demand. A study of the
history, purposes, production, and administration of religious
broadcasting. Prerequisite: JMC 418 or permission of instructor.
JMC 470 Telecommunication Management (3-0-3), spring. The
theoretical and practical aspects of station management. Special emphasis
upon sales, programming, group dynamics, computer literacy, broadcast
regulation, engineering, cable TV, and new technologies. Prerequisite:
Senior standing.
JMC 499 Telecommunications Internship (1-0-3), summer. Onthe-job
training for a minimum of 160 hours under the
telecommunication adviser and a supervisor in a radio or television
station. Prerequisites: Senior standing and approval by the adviser.Management Sciences
The Department of Management Sciences in the College of
Business Administration offers the Bachelor of Business
Administration Degree with majors in Business
Administration, Management, and Marketing and the
Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Business
Administration and International Business with emphases
in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, or the Pacific
Rim. In cooperation with the Department of Psychology,
the Department of Management Sciences offers a Bachelor
of Business Administration Degree with a major in Human
