BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
The reading laboratory is located in the main building. Students
registering for the regular classes in reading in Howard
Payne College are trained in the diagnostic and remedial procedures
of the Ophthalmograph, Metronoscope, Telebinocular, and
Audiometer as a part of their laboratory experience. All students on
the campus and all teachers from neighboring schools are urged to
avail themselves of the opportunities presented by the laboratory in
the field of diagnostic testing with instruments and comprehensive
standardized tests. Arrangements may be made for competent students
in the reading laboratory to administer a series of practical
screening tests for visual and auditory acuity.
Boenicke Museum. Through the generosity of Mr. Albert
Boenicke, a pioneer citizen of Brown County, Howard Payne College
has come into possession of one of the finest and most complete
collections of natural history and ethnological specimens to
be found in the state. Several hundred mounted specimens along
with hundreds of Indian relics compose the collection.
Dr. C. G. Schurman of Big Spring has recently augmented the
museum with a splendid collection of Indian relics from the upper
Mississippi Valley region.
A small but interesting collection of scientific and historical
material has been established in connection with the science laboratories.
Friends and ex-students are invited to send to the college
specimens of interest. The college is well equipped to care for private
collections which may be placed in the museum under loan
arrangements.
STUDIOS
Music. The Music Studios are large, neat rooms, finished and
furnished in artistic taste. They are in the choicest location in the
Chapel.
Speech Arts. The Speech Arts Studio is located on the second
floor, near the auditorium. Thus, classes may easily move to the
Auditorium for rehearsals.rChVCN*hrh
