22 BULLETIN OF HOWARD PAYNE COLLEGE
A small but interesting collection of scientific and historical
material has been established in connection with the science laboratories.
Friends and ex-students are invited to send to the college
specimens of interest. The college is well equipped to care for private
collections which may be placed in the museum under loan
arrangements.
STUDIOS
Music. The Music Studios are large, neat rooms, finished and
furnished in artistic taste. They are in the choicest location in the
Chapel.
Speech Arts. The Speech Arts Studio is located on the second
floor, near the auditorium. Thus, classes may easily move to the
Auditorium for rehearsals.
PUBLICATIONS
The Yellow Jacket. A weekly newspaper has been established
in an effort to furnish the students a medium for the expression of
literary talent. It is under the immediate direction of the Yellow
Jacket staff, elected by the Students' Association with the general
oversight of the president of the College and the special counsel of
the Committee on Student Publications.
Annual. The Lasso is the College Annual, edited and published
by a staff selected by the Students' Association with the counsel of
the Committee on Student Publications. Its purpose is to crystalize
college spirit.
ENDOWMENT
Mr. J. A. Walker of Brownwood, a benefactor and friend of
Howard Payne College, has given $160,000 toward the endowment
of Howard Payne College.
