During the next five years, professional
archaeologists will lead teams of students
and volunteers to expose all of the major
ruins on the site to determine when they

early 1800s and the present by Indians,
planters, slaves, barons, convicts, and the
general public. The long range plan is that
this will become an interpretive historical
park that documents our past and is available
to the public. Research projects will
involve professional archaeologists, historians,
the public, grade schoolers, and college
students. Lake Jackson Plantation is a research
laboratory that will reveal knowledge
about our past, so they we can better understand
our present and plan for our future.
