Reuben Johnson, formerly of Bel-
ion., but who now resides in Cam-
eron was a visitor here today.
Mrs. Belle Gardner is having her
residence repaired today, which was
damaged by fire yesterday.
Mrs. Sadler, who for the past two
or three days has been the guest of
Mrs. Kate Wray, has returned to her
home in Waco.
Charley Wray, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Wray, wlio for four years has
been ticket agent for the Katy at Itas
ka, has been promoted to the position
of agent at Egan, Texas.
Tom Powers and wife arrived yes-
terday from California. They expect
to make Belton their home. The cli-
mate of California did not agree witli
Mr. Powers so he has returned to the
place of his nativity.
John Brothers was among those
here today from Killeen.
J. B. Watters of Temple was here
today on business.
The Fire Yesterday.
Yesterday between 11 and 12
o'clock fire was discovered between
the ceiling and the roof of the resi-
dence of Mrs. A. A. Garner on the
Avenue.
.Prompt and efficient work on the
part of the people, and especially the
fire department, prevented the total
destruction of this nice residence.
Something lika $300 to $500 dam-
ages was done before the flames were
finally subdued.
The loss was covered by insurance.
