being by a United States court, In
Kansas. F. D. Warren, who receives
the sentence was convicted for hav-

$1000 to any one who would kidnap
former Governor Taylor and return
him to Kentucky. The object of the
advertisement was to presentacase
parallel to that In which Moyer and
others were kidnapped by the gov-

state to another for trial. Warren
wjints to get before the Supreme

DECLARES THSBft U HO SUCH
THUG AS BLUE BLOOD.
Xo Aristocracy Except That Which Ii
Based oa the Possession of
Honey, He flays.
New Yortt, Not. «.—"There are
no 'best families' aad there is no
'blue blood.'" \
"The time will come When the
transmission of great fortunes will
be forbidden by law.
"There is not a member of a royal
family ia Europe with the exception
of William II. who could make a liv-
ing behind a linen counter.
I believe in the aristocracy of the
average normal man, and the average
normal women. There la no other.
In theae words Dr. Woods Hutchln-
aon, one of tbie city'a most prominent
phyalclana, today elaborated on Ma
views of "blue blood" as given In a
lecture before the Ijeague fer Physi
cal Education. He declared that
money was the aole baais for the ar-
istocracy of today-
"There are no best families and
there la no blue blood." he said.
There ia no aristocracy anywhere
based on anything Out the possession
of money.
"Many forms of greatness are ac-
companied by a lack of balance and
While tbe great mas breeds true, his
descendants are just as apt to inherit
thia lack of balance as his genius.
His greatness, however, wins riches,
generally speaking, and that enables
his descendants to keep up a certain
artificial aristocracy."
Dr. Hutchinson then declared that
the time would come when the trans-
mission of great fortunes would be
forbidden by law.
"I believe that ft will some day be
Impossible to transmit from one gen-
eration to another sum* greater than
$10,000. Tbe rest of the fortune will
revert to the state to which it really
belongs.
Poverty is a disease which even-
tually we will be able to control and
conquer like any other, when wealth
Is not concentrated in the hands of
a few, andjvhen thq laboring man
gets more than one or one and a half
per cent of hlji earnings. That Is
what I call sanitary aclence or biolo-
gical engineering."
Dr. Hutchinson then turned to
"blue blood" as boasted by British
royalty, and declared:
There la not a member of a royal
family in Europe, with the exception
of William II. who could make his
living behind a linen counter .Queen
Victoria never had braina enough to
make her capable of earning foer liv-
ing in any capacity, and her son, tbe
late' king, was even worse. Yet
when be died you would have thought
the world had suffered an irreparable
loss
I contend that theer ia no such
thing as a self-made mas, that a man
ia absolutely Che product of hla an-
cestry and hla environments. Inves-
tigation haa demonstrated that a cer-
tain amount of real talent has beea
developed in aristocratic families, but
not to the extent that would justify
their subeldlatlon by ths government
—the robbing of the people which haa
taken place in European countries"
