The Granger Picnic.
One a the' most pleasant
occasions of the season was the
picnicfft Pope springs near Gran-
ger, on last .Wednesday, gjvon
by tho good people of that town.
There was-a largo crowd to en-
joy the festivities of tho Qay,com-
mg irom (ieorgetown, Taylor,
Bartle'tt and other points, and as
is always the case With the Gran-
ger folks, th"oy we're equal to tho
occasion, hence every body got a
good dinner, and had a good lime.
One of tho most pleasant sights
of tho day, was tho parade, deco-
rated floats loaded with beauti-
ful little girls and drawn by a
traction engine, and followed by
tho Granger Fire Department
and Bartlott Light Guards, which
added.to the scene. -During tho
day the time was occupied with
various sports, baseball,gun club
shoots etc.
in tne aiternoon tne various
candidates present made speeches
ana treatou tne crowd "to some
oratory. After the speaking and
in fact, after tho day's pleasure
was noanng a close, upon invita
tion tho Bartlett Ligh.t Guards
entertained tho immense throng
with a drill, which was highly
appreciated, and roflected great
credit upon Capt. McCluro and
his offioiont aridablo company.
The music which, was tho most
attractive and beneficial part ,of
tho day's program, was furnish-
ed by the Floronco Cornet band,
which is second to none ' in this
section of tho state. All praiso
to Granger and her hospitable
citizens for tho mannor in which
they entertained tho largo crowd
for she has added anothor laurel
to her hospitality.
At nighfc the Bartlott Light
Guards were tondorod a rocop-
tion by Miss Dean, sponsor of
pno fonfoderAte Veterans as-
sociation of GrlingOr, which was
highly onjloyod ad will long, bo

A Correction.
Taylor, Texas, April 25.
I understand that there is
a report current that tho last
Grand Jury was reconvened for
the purpose ofcorreoting mistakes
made by the District and County
Attorneys. There is "no .foun-
dation for such report. It was
agreed and understood by all
members of the' Grand Jury when
it adjourned on January 17th
that it would reconvene on Feb-
ruary Cth to investigate somo
oases in which it required some
time to got witnessos.
I can stato mo3t emphat-
ically that the Grand Jury wag
not reconvened to correct mis-,
takes made by oither tho Dis-
trict or County Attorney;
