Maloney's Wedding.
A very large and appreciative
audience was that which respond-
ed to the general invitation to at-
tend "Maloney's Wedding" at the
Peterson theater Friday night.
Those who were present had
oceans of fun aud those who
stayed away missed a fine enter-
tainment and were the losers. The
company presenting this farce
company was not a very large one
but every member was a comedian
and their claim of producing 180
laughs in 1G0 minutes was carried
out. Several very pleasing spe-
cialties were introduced aud
hearty encores accorded each one.

"The Private Secretary."
An] exchange says:
"The Private Secretary," Wil-
liam Gillette's great comedy, has
as much pure, undulturated fun
in it as can be 'well crowded into a
two hours' performance. The
number of ludicrous situations
which have been cleverly intro-
duced into this ]>lay is almost
beyond belief, and the large audi-
ence at Greenwall's last night was
kept in a roar of laughter from the
time the private secretary made
his appearance in the fiist act
until the curtain dropped on the
[ last scene.
With little to commend it in the
way of a plot it is simply a splen-
did aggregation of humorous and
effective climaxes.
The inimicable drollery of Mr.
Norton, who portrayed the inno-
cent secretaiy with his goloshes
was highly refreshing, and has not
been surpassed this season. In
fact the whole cc mpany was very
strong, and if there were a few
weak points in the performance
!h< y could lie easily overlooked in
the general excellence of the play.

Fish Hatched by liens.
The heus of China lead busv
lives. When not engaged in
hatching out a brood of their own
kind they are put to the additional
and Eovel task of hatching fish
eggs. Chinese cheap labor collects
the spawn of fish fiom the water's
edge, phtces it in an empty egg
shell, which is then hermetically
sealed vith wax, and places it
under the unsnspecting sittiug

After some days the eggshell is
removed and carefully broken, and
the spawn, which has been warmed
