ments.
To Deliver Most Bonds
Harold W. Brcining, assistant ad-
ministrator of veterans affairs in
charge of the bonus disbursement,
predicted Sunday that only 30l).f1',r>
or 400,000 applying veterans will re-
main undistributed by Monday’s
deadline. These are special caccy
where incomplete records, inade-
quate application statements of loan
complications have delayed the ap-
proval of applications.
Bonus applications still are com-
ing in at the rate of about 50,000
a week, it i.s estimated, despite a
gradual decline from the peak rush
of business in the first weeks of
February.
Officials of the Home Owners
Loan corporation predicted the bo-
nus liquidation will speed up liqui-
dation of government home loans
made to a large number of veterans.
The veterans’ loans are part of
more than three billion dollars
loaned to a mil.ton-odd home own-
ers by the HOLC.
Urges Holding
General Frank T. Hines, admin-
istrator of veterans affairs, has
urged veterans to hold their bonds,
which will draw interest at 3 per
cent a year, "if there is no urgent
condition which requires that the
bonds be cashed.”
A survey by American Legion of-
ficials at the time the bonus bill
was enacted indicated veterans
would spend their bonus somewhat
along these lines: Payment of old
debts, 31.4 per cent; homes and
home life expenses, 32.4 per cent;
business and investments, 7.8 per
cent; family clothing, 7 per cent;
motor cars and machinery, 8.7 per
cent; insurance, education, savings
