LIGHT IS CHEAPER THAN
EYESIGHT
It is a false reasoning to think that you save by not
having plenty of light in every room and for every
hour day and night. Curtailing the light’s use is to
do damage to the eye. You can buy lights and fix-
tures, but you can’t
buy eyesight.

Two Sites Lake
Texoma Awarded
Sherman Bidders
Following the announcement
that two bids from Sherman on
sites on Lake Texoma for outing
places, were the only ones turned
in at the Denison offices of the
National Park Service, it was
declared this week that the two
bids had gone through unchalleng'
ed and the two sites will be taken
over and improved for outing
places for the employees.
The two concerns were the In
or’s course, and Mr. Cravens took
the course for inspectors.
Special consideration was given
at the meet to the matter of handl-
ing of butane gas and also the
matter of how to cope with such
disasters as happened a few
months back at Texas City.
The courses of study covered
were disaster coordination, use of
hook and ladder, hose mainten-
ance and loads, forsible entry, sal
vage, knots and extinguishers, fire
fighting practices, hose evolution
and pump theory.
The school is an annual affair
and is under the direction of the
chemistry department of A. & M.
and is highly valuable to the cities
sending men each year to take
the courses. The Denison dele-
gates took part in the discussions
which were held at each session.

game rooms, bathing beach, docks
for boats, dance hall, and play
grounds. The employes of the two
Sherman companies will be charg-
ed a small monthly sum to help in
the upkeep of the property and
they will be at liberty to enjoy the
club quarters at any time of the
year.
All plans for improving any
concessions granted must, accord-
ing to the regulations, be submit-
ted to the government for inspec-
tion before the go-ahead sign is

Major General Butler B. Mil-
tonberger, chief of National Guard
Bureau, has predicted an immedi-
ate jump in National Guard
strength as the result of legisla-
tion signed by President Truman
authorizing enlistments of 17-
year olds.
Authority to enlist the 17-year-
olds was contained in a rider to
HR 3303, A Bill to Stimulate En-
listments in the Regular Military
Establishments of the United
States. The rider amended Public
Law 128, the National Defense
Act, which formerly had limited
enlistments to men 18 years of
age.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas—
A patent has been issued G. L.
