twenties fctf the opportunist. Propagand-
ists try to get in their work to set
the stage for looting in one way or anoth-
er the riches we possess as a state.
In the name of war measures, they
ride in a wooden horse which contains
the forces of death.
It is a time for us to be on the alert
as a state.
For that reason we do not look with
much favor on this idea some newspapers
seem to have, namely, that of making
light of the approaching election and dis-
counting the idea of the need of the peo-
ple to hear from the candidates amd give
the people a full discussion of the issues.
Men who are to- stand at the heads of
our various offices from the national Capi-
tol on down to the states and precir.ct3,
should be chosen with the utmost care
now more so than ever.
A nation <at war is a nation abnorm-
al and) abnormal times may lead to ab-
normal arlviamtages which can and will be
taker, by men with no scruples.
Winning the front which underwrite j
our common democracy is just as im-1
portent as is the front line where the boys I
have gone to save our ountry.
There is just las much patriotism in a?i
election as tihere is in a battle to avenge
Pearl Harbor, and we should choose the
men who run the state with the same de-
gree of concern <as we do those who
to direct wars.
