At The Texas
With a twinkle in her eye and a
saucy Irish brogue in her song, lit-
tle Jane Withers heads a stellar
cast of fun makers in her Joyous
new Pox picture, “Paddy O’Day,”
opening at the Texas Saturday
night preview and running through
Monday’s program.
The picture follows the fascinat-
ing adventures of a motherless lit-
tle” girl from Erin to the strange
city of Neiw York, and presents
Pinky Tomlin, Rita Cansino, Jane
Darwell and George Givot in the
supporting cast.
New song hits, new dances and
the funniest series of events that
ever a little girl experienced.
The story of “Paddy O’Day” fob
lows the brail of a little lass who
comes over to the United States on
the steerage of a big boat, and who
captivates the hearts of all her fel-
low passengers.
When she arrives at Ellis Island,
it is only to meet dlssapointment,
Her mother has died and she must
be sent back.
She eludes the vigilant eyes of
the immigration inspectors, and es-
capes to the house where her mo-
ther used to work. It is a strange,
Crazy household, presided over by
two eccentric aunts who repress the
almost Irrepressible Pinkly Tomlin.
Tomlin discovers Jane, and to-
gether they have a great many joy-
ous adventures as she Introduces
him to her Russian acquaintances
of the ship. Before the climax of
the picture a romance has sprung
up between Tomlin and Miss Can-
eino and, finally, when the Immi-
gration officers ferret out Jane's
hiding place and attempt to take
her away, they come to her res-
cue.
Lewis Seiler directed this heart
warming picture, under associate
producer Sol. M. Wurtzel. In the
supporting oast are Francis Ford,
Vera Lewis and Louise Carter.
