Sam McIntosh, of Big Springs,
announces the recent arrival of
a little daughter in his home.
Misses Myrta and Ethel An-
derson were guests of Waxaha-
chie relatives the first of the
week,
Lee Stamford, of Red Oak,
was in town last Monday and
called at this office to renew his
Hkrald.
An auto party from Waxaha-
chie were pleasantly entertained
by the Misses Anderson Satur-
day evening.
Dr. and Mrs. Hollpway and
daughter. Miss Ruth, of Dallas,
were guests of W. B. Anderson’s
family Sunday.
Wiley Benton visited his par-
ents in the Houston community
Sunday and smiled on Lancaster
, friends before taking the train.

H. E. White left Monday for
Baltimore, to attend the meeting
of the Southern Baptist Conven-
tion. He expects to visit Wash-
ington and New York before re-
turning. *
Misses Willie Taylor and
Kathleen Stuart visited Mrs.
Clyde Garrison in Oak Cliff the
first of the week and attended
the convention of the Christian
church.
Mrs. W. D. Lavender enter-
tained the Art club at her pret-
ty home on the pike Wednesday
afternoon of last week. Banana
cream, waters* and coffee were
served, and a most delightful af-
ternoon was spent.
Velpeau Denton took advant-
age of the baseball rates Sunday
and came uo to spend Mother’s
Dav at home. He was accom-
panied by his room mate, Verna
Robinson, They returned to T.
C. U. on the evening train.
Miss Lula Lavender was an at-
tendant at the convention of the
Christian church in Dallas, and
read a paper on the C. W. B. M.
work. G. C. Rawlins was also
on the program with other big
men of the denomination to dis-
cuss the lavman movement.
In the examination of appli-
cants for teacher’s certificates
held last Fridav and Saturday
there were nineteen applicants,
fourteen of whom failed to pass.
There were none who aspired to
first grade. Prof. C. J. Denton
is a member of the examining
board.
W. G. Howell has purchased
of Mrs. Emilv Guv twentv-two
and one-half feet of land adjoin-
ing his premises on the north,
through from pike to p i k ,e,
and is having same put in shape
for a drive way. The partition
fence will be remo/ec, and thus
the lawn will be enlarged. Mr.
Howell is contemplating other
improvements, such as the en-
larging of the house, laving out a
garden, and erecting attractive
fences between lawn and garden.

the Trinity Valley Traction com-
pany, organized for the purpose
of building the Palestine, Corsi-
cana, Waxahachie and Dallas In-
terurban railroad, wa§ in the city
yesterday arranging to move the
general offices of the company
from Corsicana to Dallas. He
secured ruoms on the third floor
ot the Scollard building, and will
occtrpv them at once. “Such
preliminaries as the surveying
of the route, the preparation of
the blue prints, the securing ot
the right of wav and the making
of estimates of the cost of con-
struction have practically been
completed,” says Mr. Watkins.
“We have arranged for the
money, and expect to begin the
work of actual construction dur-
ing the summer. We will begin
at Waxahachie and complete the
line from there to Dallas first,
and then the line from Waxaha-
chie to Corsicana, and finally
from Corsicana to Palestine.”-—
