day laborer; Secretary Lane, of the

United States as a shame.

to know T ” asks the cabinet official.
The accuracy of the j^ccentage of
illiterates is based on tf\e fact that
of the first 2,000,000 conscripted
there were 200,000 who could neither

The State Cotton meeting held in
Dallas Tuesday drew an immense
attendance and the interest was
great. Resolutions of far reaching
value were adopted, and the work
of securing co-operation will be
pushed in the interval between now
and planting time. County and

Lt. Arthur Ruinfelt came in from
California last week. He has been
at San Diego, but was recently
transferred to Riverside. He has
had the experience of several flights
