Notes

Accompanying information: "View of the navigation office to the left of the entrance. The ends of two bunks which were fastened to the outer bulkhead are visible on the left side of the photograph. I am seated next to the bunks and Tom Clark is seated on a metal file which holds the photographer's 4 x 5 negatives. Back of my head is the front of a locker which is partially visible. I believe there were three or four lockers. Just beyond our backs is a door which opened to a compartment where K rations were sometimes stored. Next to Clark's left leg is an open camera case used for a 4 x 5 Speed Graphic camera. The case also held a flash unit and holders for 4 x 5 cut film. The photographer also used a Kodak camera which used 120 roll film. He also had a theodolite which was used to determine upper wind direction and velocity by tracking a helium-filled balloon. A tank or two of helium were also available, but they are not visible in any of the pictures."
