ICOMMUNITY CALENDAR
Thursday, Dec. 24
Christmas Eve Services — FUMC
Candles, Carols and Communion
will be held Dec. 24-25, at First United
Methodist Church of Sweetwater. There
will be two Christmas Eve Services.
Candles and Carols will begin at 6 p.m.
and Candles, Carols and Communion will
begin at 11 p.m. Everyone is welcome to
attend either of these special Christmas
Eve Services.
Christmas Eve Services — FBC
First Baptist Church, Sweetwater will
have a Christmas Eve memorial service
on Thursday, Dec. 24. This is a special
service to remember loved ones lost. This
service will begin at 5 p.m. The Christmas
Eve service will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday,
Dec. 24.
Koscoe Christmas Parade
The Roscoe Christmas Parade will be
held Thursday, Dec. 24. Line up is at 1
p.m. in front of the UAP building. The
parade will take off at 1:30 p.m. This
parade is dedicated to all military person-
nel. Anyone wanting to join the parade
may show up at 1 p.m. The parade will
end in front of City Hall. There will be
free hot chocolate while supplies last.
SNCHD Closings
The Sweetwater-Nolan County Health
Department will be closed Wednesday,
Dec. 23, Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday
Dec. 25, for the Christmas holiday.
Sunday, Dec. 27
Sweetwater Men's Bible Class
Sweetwater Men's Bible Class will can-
cel their meeting for Sunday, Dec. 27, for
the Christinas holiday. They will resume
meetings starting Sunday, Jan. 3,2010.

Health Department
Sweetwater-Nolan County Health
Department has scheduled a H1N1
Vaccine Clinic on Tuesday, Dec. 29, from
8:30-11:30 a.m. for the general public.

Greenbelt Garden
Greenbelt Garden will be having a
Weather-Pruning and Maintenance
Workshop at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9.
Greenbelt Garden is located at 1820 S.
Treadway in Abilene.

West Texas Sports and
Fitness Expo
The West Texas Sports and Fitness
Expo will be on Saturday, Jan. 23, from 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Abilene Civic Center,
1100 N. 6th Street in Abilene. It's going
to be the premier sports, fitness, and rec-
reation event of the year. It will feature
the kick-off for youth league registration
for the entire community. The Abilene
Ruff Riders will again be at the Sports
and Fitness Expo to meet the public
and sign autographs. The cost will be $2
and kids under 12 get in for $1. There
will be brand new contests and prizes
for all ages. There will be morning and
afternoon contests for youth and open
divisions.

CITY CLOSINGS
The City of Sweet water business offices
will be closed 011 Thursday and Friday,
Dec. 24. and 25, for the Christmas holi-
day and on Friday, Jan. 1. 2010.
There will be no residential refuse col-
lection Thursday, Dec. 24, or Friday, Dec.
25. All residential routes will be collected
on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday,
Dec. 21-23. In addition there is no resi-
dential refuse collection on Friday, Jan.
1. The Sweetwater residential cart ser-
vice will be picked up on Wednesday,
Dec. 23, and Thursday, Dec. 31. instead
of Friday, Dec. 25, and Jan. 1.
There will be no commercial refuse
collection on Friday, Dec. 25. Thursday’s
route will be collected on Wednesday,
Dec. 23. Friday’s route will be collected
on Thursday, Dec. 31.
The Citizens Drop-Off-Center and
Type-IV Landfill will be closed Thursday,
Dec. 24 through Sunday, Dec. 27, and
will reopen with their normal schedule
Monday, Dec. 28. The Citizen Drop-
Off-Center and Type-IV Landfill will
be closed Friday, Jan. 1, and reopen on
Saturday, Jan. 2.
ELKS HAMBURGER NIGHT
Sweetwater Elks Lodge hosts its ham-
burger night every Wednesday begin-
ning at 6 p.m. Plates are $4 a plate (all
you can eat). Everyone is invited to
attend.
PARKS BEING WINTERIZED
As of Oct. 28, 2009, The City of
Sweetwater Public Works Department
will be winterizing all parks, Sweetwater
Cemetery and Lake Sweetwater camp-
ground restrooms by turning off the
water to these facilities for the remained
of the cold season. For information con-
cerning the use of park facilities, contact
the Sweetwater Citv Service Center at
235-1297 or 235-5003.
CLOTHES CLOSET
The clothes closet is open to those
in need on the first Saturday of each
month from 9 a.m. to noon at the First
United Methodist Church, on the corner
of Fourth and Cedar Streets.
ANGLE FUND
AVAILABLE ATSHS
Sweetwater High School has available
an Angel Fund to provide educational
assistance to SHS students. The fund
will allow contributions to be made in
honor or memory of a loved one. An
acknowledgement card will be sent lo
the person or family designated by the
contributor.
The fund is managed by the principal
and committee members of Sweetwater
High School, who will determine the
disbursement of funds.

ELKS KARAOKE NIGHT
Sweetwater Elks Lodge #1257 will
have KARAOKE every Friday night from
8p.m. to midnight. Everyone is invited.
The Elks Lodge is located on Loop 170.
Anyone under 21 must be accompanied
by a parent or guardian.
VI YV KARAOKE NIGHT
Sweetwater V.F.W. Post 2479 will
have KARAOKE every Thursday night
from 8 p.m. to midnight. Come sing your
song and enjoy the fun. There is also a
country dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on
Saturdays.
SWEETWATER V.E.W.
Sweetwater V.F.W. now has sweep-
stake machines open from to a.m. until
midnight daily and Sunday from 1 p.m.
to midnight. They are closed Tuesday.
