i Tribute to Father
Of John Clay
A glowing tribute on the passing
of E. C. Clay of Claude has been
written by Mrs. Phebe K. Warner,
pioneer Texas newspaper woman.
It appeared in The Amarillo News
and is of interest locally because
Mr. Clay was the futlier of John
Clay of Sweetwater.
"Few men have ever been bet-
ter prepared to meet their God
than he was,” Mrs. Warner wrote.
“The example of his beautiful life
is not only a rich legacy to his
family but to our entire commun-
ity . Kind, <i uiet, sincere in every
thought and act of his life, his
spirit needed no change to fit it
for his home in Heaven."
