flavor is the quality itself.
Nobody has ever been able to

To Preserve China.
Many a lover of fine china has been
heartbroken to discover her choice din-
tor or tea set lined with halrllke
cracks Hot tea or chocolate poured
Into dainty cups crack* them Instantly.
A Chinese merchant gnve this hit of
Information when a rare tea set was
purchased front him. “Before using
delicate china place It in a pan of
cold water. Let It come gradually to
the boil and allow the china to remain
In the water till cold.” This tempers
the china, and It is capable of with-
standing the sudden expansion caused
by the heat. There Is no need of re-
peating the treatment fora longtime.”

Flower Show Old Institution.
The flower shows of English villages
have an ancient origin, though few
people may ever stop to give the mat-
ter a thought. The ancestry of the
floral fete reaches back to the days of
Ovid, the poet. As for when flower
shows were first held In England. It 1
cannot lie certainly known, hut It Is a
fact that If th'i»y did not actually In- -

tnrers from Flanders, fleeing the |
wrath of Philip t nd Alvn. In l.Vff, gave
a fillip to the pmctlce. To these peo- I
pie English gavlens of Elisabeth's
time owed such favorite# aa the gilly- ;
flower and the carnation.
The extra miles they give mean just so
many extra dollars counted in real money*
And there are further actual economies ifl
the saving of gas, oil, repairs and depreciation*
The reason of all this is in the tires them-
selves their liveliness, ruggedness
sturdiness.
