Community Thanksgiving Service
Slated At Bellaire Christian
The annual Community-Wide
Thanksgiving Services will be
conducted Wednesday, Nov. 26,
at 7:30 p.m. at the Bellaire
Christian Church, 6610 Adler.
The feature message of the
evening, “Delighting in our Gra-
titude,’’ will be delivered by the
Rev. Alfred G. Taylor. He has
been minister of the Bellaire
Presbyterian Church since 1966.
Prior to that time he served for
seven years as minister of the
First Presbyterian Church of
Charlottesville, Va. Currently he
is president of the Presbyterian
Minister’s Assn, of Houston.
The service is sponsoredby the
Southwest Clergy Assn., which is
comprised of ministers, priests
and rabbis of Bellaire and the
Southwest area. Many of these
clergymen will be participating

Evenings by Appointment
in the services. Dr. Lee Porter,
pastor of First Baptist Church of
Bellaire, was recently elected
president of this organization.
Special music for the evening
will be given by the choir of the
Bellaire Christian Church. The
host minister, Rev. Lloyd T.
Watson, and the entire mem-
bership of the Southwest Clergy
Assn, cordially invites all of the
citizens of this area to partici-
pate in this annual community-
wide worship service The Bel-
laire Christian Church will be the
hosts at a fellowship hour fol-
lowing the services.

In SWU Concert
Five Southwest area residents
played in a concert of the South-
west University Band in George-
town Nov. 20.
Local members of the 40-piece
band are Susan Engle, daughter
of Mr, and Mrs. W. Engle, 618
Diamond Head; Kenneth Johnson,
son of Mr. and Mrs R.D. John-
son, 111 Sibelius; Martin Good-
man, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clin-
ton Goodman, 1027 Glourie Cir-
cle; Guy Knoll, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Lawrence P. Knoll, 5221
Beech; and Bettye McGehee,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.

Allen Named Vice President
J. Franklin Allen has been
named assistant vice president
at Houston Bank & Trust where
he will shortly take over duties
as a loan officer.
Allen joined the bankas teller
after graduating rom Southwest-
ern University in 1966. He was
elected assistant cashier in 1968
and has been serving as savings
department administrator for the
Allen is treasurer and a direc-
tor of the Houston Heart Associa-
tion and a member of the board
of governors of the Houston chap-
ter of the American Institute of
Banking. He is also a member
of Robert Morris Association.
Allen is a graduate of Lamar
High School and a resident of the
Conquistador. He is the son of
Charles L. Allen pastor of the
