slate meeting
Cadet Corps' rifle team ranks first in city
The Parents Club of the
Bellaire N.D.C.C. will have
its third meeting November
20th, at 7:30 p.m. Major
Henry L. Meyers, Assistant
Director of the ROTC pro-
gram of the Houston schools
will present a talk on the var-
ious awards and scholarships
that a student can earn. Par-
ents please come and par-
ticipate in your child’s acti-
vity.
The National Defense Ca-
det Corps of Bellaire High
School is an active organi-
zation, its purpose being to
promote citizenship, scho-
larship and leadership among
its members. Its members
perform many service func-
tions in the school, as Belle-
guard at football games, flag
detail at the school, disaster
patrol in time of need, and
other duties where depen-
dable organization is needed.
The Rifle Team ranks first
in the city; there are three
members among the top ten
firers in the city - Robert
Lunsofrd is 1st, Von Hen-
derson is 4th, and Paul Ur-
baneck is 5th, ranking among
200 students from Rifle Te-
ams from 22 high schools.
Bellaire Rifle Team has won
each of the four matches
fired, and will participate in
four other matches todeter-
mine the top team in the city.
Bellaire Rifle Team willpar-
ticipate in several out of town
matches against numerous
other schools in this part of
the country.

Soccer is known as the
most popular sport in the
world and often there are
crowds of 200,000 people
attending these games. Per-
haps there won’t be that
many people at this game
but those who attend will see
a tough, fast exciting co-ed
game.
Half time entertainment
will be furnished by the mu-
sical Kazoo Club of Bell-
aire.
Tickets are a nominal 50
cents each and may be pur-
chased from any member of
these two organizations or
may be purchased at the ga-
me.
The proceeds will benefit
the German Club and AFS,
helping send students abroad
for study.
