VOE applications being accepted
Applications are now beingac-
cepted from Junior students who
are interested in participating in
next year’s Vocational Office
Education Program.
VOE is a work-experience pro-
gram for Senior boys and girls
who have training in typewrit-
ing, shorthand, and bookkeeping
and would like to explore office
occupations before graduation.
Students enroll for a VOE class
and three other subjects. They
begin on-the-job training at 1
p.m. and work a minimum of 15
hours per school week. Upon
completion of two semesters, the
student earns 2 1/2 credits (to-
ward graduation) which are also
accepted by most colleges and
universities.
Classroom activities include
skill development in the use of
various types of office equip-
ment, proper office conduct and
work techniques, and a variety
of business and professional
speakers.
Applications may be picked up
and returned to the VOE coor-
dinator in Room 206. Deadline
for signing up is Friday, April
28.
Field Day set
Kinkaid Field Day, April 18, is
a traditional school event on the
Campus at 201 Kinkaid School
Dr. and is enthusiastically sup-
ported by students, faculty and
parents for the benefit of the
school. This year, funds from
Field Day will go to the new
Moran Library Enrichment Fund
and to the Jack Hanagrif Me-
morial Fund.
Field Day, will feature the con-
tinuing Field and Tract rivalry
between the two school teams, the
Purple and the Gold. Students
from kindergarten with their
stick horse race, along with all
the grades through the 12th grade
participate in these Field and
Tract events. The first Purple
April 18
and Gold contest begins at 2:45
p.m. on the athletic field and
upon their completion will be fol-
lowed by the annual Country Baz-
aar with games, food, fun and
nemerous booths run by students
and parents.
Students take an active part In
the Bazaar, with such fun booths
as the Kinkaid Dip where a well
thrown ball lands a student in
the “drink.” Exotic plants,
homemade cakes, cookies and
candies, beautiful handmade gifts
hot dogs, cottoncandyanda Fried
Chicken dinner are just part of the
fun at the Kinkaid Field Day.
The 1972 Field Day chairman
is Mrs. James Lyon. Co-chair-
men are Mrs. Wynne Perry-
more and Mrs. Allen Jogerst.
Bill Andrew
added to
'Oh, Baby’ cast
Bill Andrew, a Houston actor
who once performed opposite the
late film actress, Jayne Mans-
field, has been added to the cast
of Walter Boyd’s original fam-
ily comedy, “Oh, Baby!,” which
will be premiered April 21 at
Theatre Suburbia.
Andrew and the busty blonde
beauty emoted vis-a-vis in the
Austin (Texas) Civic Theatre
production of “Dirty Work at the
Crossroads,” when both were
students at the University of Tex-
as.
On the Suburbia stage, Andrew
has distinguished himself in such
productions as Joe McHale’s
“The Crack in the Trumpet”and
Emlyn Williams’ “A Murder Has
Been Arranged.”
Director Jim Siedow previous-
ly announced these “Oh, Baby!"
cast members: Peter Liversidge,
Gurden McKay, Jim Henson, Ruth
Siedow, Janet Thomas, Gail New-
by, Ken Burch and Raymond Mc-
Leod.
