Lions elect new governor
The Lions of District 2-Sa, Lions
International, held their 54th an-
nual convention at the Marriott
Motor Hotel, May 19-20. Dis-
trict 2-S2 consists of about 2600
Lions in 78 clubs in an 8 county
area. Dr. Larry Greenfield, 5614
Darnell, Houston, was elected
governor to lead the district dur-
ing 1972-73. He is a member and
past president of the Bellaire
Lions Club and ha's served on the
District Governor’s Cabinet the
past three years. Dr. Greenfield
is a native Houstonian and a
graduate of Lamar High School.
He attended the University of
Houston and is a graduate of the
University of Texas Dental
Branch. He is married and has
three daughters. Also elected to
posts in District 2-S2 were C.J,
Raggio of the Liberty Lions Club
as a director of the Texas Lions
League for Crippled Children;
and Jack Gartner of the Almeda
Lions Club as a trustee of the
Houston - Harris County Light-
house for the Blind.

Two local coaches to begin school
Two Southwest area high school
baseball coaches have battled on
the diamond last week for the bi -
district title and now plan to com-
bine their 28 years of coaching
experience in the form ofabase-
The coaches are Ray Knob-
lauch of Bellaire and Dick Janse
The camp, in it’s first year, is
presenting to the youth of South-
west Houston a quality baseball
school where fundamental base-
ball instruction will be present-
ed by qualified instructors. It is
the desire cf the camp to fur-
ther the development of each ball-
player, through individual atten-
tion so that Southwest Houston
may continue to lay claim to
having the finest youth baseball
claim in town.
The camp is for boys ages 9
throughl 15 and will run during
June. There will be three ses-
sions to choose from, each ses-
sion lasting one week.
