Sharon Kay Parks became
the bride of Robert Jackson Bar-
nett in an afternoon ceremony
May 22 in the home of Rev. and
Leslie Welch of Rosenburg,
with Rev. Welch officiating.
Thei bride is the daughter of
Mrs. Oliver Parks, 4810 Palmet-
to, and the late Mr. Parks. Par-
ents of the groom are Mr. and
Mrs. Jack B. Barnett, 10811
Doude.
The couple was honored with a
reception given by Mr. and Mrs.
Roger Cruzan in their home, 4812
Palmetto.
After their wedding trip to
Monterrey, Mexico, Mr. and Mrs.
Barnett will be at home in Hous-
ton.

of the delegates attending the
Texas Association of Hospital
Auxiliaries Convention held May
ly at the Shamrock Hilton.
Approximately 700 women re-
presenting 219 hospitals and 28,-
687 adult volunteers from all
over Texas, attended the three
day convention.
Dr. Denton A. Cooley was the
keynote speaker.
Mrs. O’Brien and Mrs. Fults
represented Memorial Baptist
Hospital S.W. and Mrs. Ruff and
Mrs. Laine were the representa-
tives for the Sharpstown General
Hospital.
Representing Bellaire General
Hospital were Mrs. Wadsworth
and Mrs. Hecker.

In an afternoon ceremony May
23 in the University of Houston
| Chapel, Miss Jane York was
| married to Danny Hauser. Fr.
Paul Johnson officiated.
Parents of the bride are Mr.
and Mrs. Don York of Rapid City,
S.D., and the groom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hauser of
El Paso.
Both are graduates of West-
bury High School, and attend
the V of H, where she Is major-
ing in home economics and he
plays basketball.
For her wedding, the bride
chose a gown of silk organza over
peau de soie, designed with Em-
pire bodice, a petite standing
neckline of lace, Bishop sleeves
and a full skirt embellished with
lace.
Her full veil of Illusion fell
from a beaded cap.
Miss Pam Dixon and Mrs. V.G
Hartford served as maid ami
matron of honor. Bridesmaids
were (he Misses Carol Taylor,
Jennie Smith, Diana Sage and
Connie Coone.
Tiie attendants wore matching
yellow floral sleeveless gowns
Their hair was adorned with gar-
lands of fresh daisies.
Tom Hauser served his son as
best man. Groomsmen wereTim,
Gary and Tom Hauser, brothers
of the groom; Clay Hoster and
Dale Johnson. Danny McGinnis,
Ronnie Daniel and Richard Short
were ushers.
After a wedding trip to New Or-
leans, the couple are at home in
Houston.
Students Receive SWT Award
Two BellairestudentsatSouth-
west Texas State University were
recently recognized for their
scholastic and leadership achi-
evement in departmental awards
ceremonies.
Laurie J. Buser, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Buser,
5321 Evergreen, was recognized
for her achievements in the de-
partment of modern language A
freshman at SWT, Miss Buser
was recognized for academic ex-
cellence in lower level French
courses.
Recognized in the department
of education was Carla Cobel,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy
G. Cobel, 5415 Brea Burn.
Miss Coble, a junior at SWT,
was recognized for achievement
and leadership as a secretary
of the student branch of the As-
sociation for Childhood Educa-
tion. She was awarded $150 by
the chapter to enable her to re-
present the group at the ACEI
Study Conference in Atlanta, Ga.
Toastmistress
Council 6, Texoma Region of
International Toastmistress will
meet on June 20, at the Helena
Motel from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The hostess club is Uptown
Toastmistress Club of Houston.
Mrs. Louise Tydings, past
president of International Toast-
mistress, will present the char-
ter and install the officers of the
newest local club, St. Joseph’s
Toastmistress Club, which meets
at the St. Joseph’s Hospital.
