Monday, Jan. 19
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Banquet
The third annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
banquet is slated for Monday, Jan. 19, 2009.
The banquet will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the
Nolan County Coliseum Annex, located at
1699 Cypress Street. The agenda will provide a
variety of entertainment and keynote speaker
Dr. Aubrey Todd, a West Texas native. Tickets
are now on sale for individuals, groups and
organizations by calling 933-0076. Anyone
wishing to volunteer their time, talents or ser-
vices may also call 933-0076. Tickets will be
$10 for adults ages 19 and older; $5 for youth,
ages 18 and under; and $4 for senior citizens.
City Offices Closed
The City of Sweetwater business offices will
be closed Monday, Jan. 19, for the Martin
Luther King, Jr. holiday. There will be no res-
idential or commercial refuse service on
Monday, Jan. 19, however, all services will
resume Tuesday, Jan. 20. Please be patient, as
the trucks and staff will be running one day
behind, but will catch up during the week, so
there may be a small delay. The citizen's drop-
off center and Type IV landfill will be closed
Monday, Jan., 19, and reopen at regularly
scheduled hours Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Health Department Closed
The Sweetwater-Nolan County Health
Department will be closed Monday, Jan. 19, to
observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
AARP
The Nolan County Chapter 2209 AARP will
meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at the
SNAP Building. A business meeting and musi-
cal program by Claud French and the Drifters
will be presented. A covered dish meal will be
served.

Adult Literacy/ESL
The Adult Literacy/ESL class at the County-
City Library will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday,
Jan. 21. Call 235-4978 for more information

Saturday, Jan. 24
Yucca Coronation
The 2009 Yucca Coronation will be held at
7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Sweetwater
High School auditorium. This year's theme is
"A Night With the Stars."
Gun Show
A gun show will be held from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, and from 9 a.m. to 4
p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, at the Nolan County
Coliseum. There will be a large selection of
new and used rifles, shotguns and handguns.
Sunday, Jan. 25
Football Banquet
The annual Sweetwater Mustang football
banquet will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25,
at Texas State Technical College. Tickets to the
banquet are available for $15 at the SHS field
house until noon on Thursday, Jan. 22.
Football players, cheerleaders and student
trainers will not be required to buy a ticket.
Each team, freshman, junior varsity and varsi-
ty, will be recognized for their hard work and
dedication this season. The cheerleaders and
trainers will also be introduced and thanked
for their constat support throughout the year.
A highlight video recapping the season will be
shown as well.
Immunization Clinic
The Sweetwater-Nolan County Health
Department will hold an immunization clinic
from 8:30-11:30 a.m. only on Wednesday,
Jan. 21.
Thursday, Jan. 22
Go Cart Meeting
A meeting will be held at 7:15 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 22, at the Sweetwater Police
Department to discuss the Rattlesnake
Speedway go cart track. The track opening is
Taco Dinner Fundraiser
The Roscoe High School senior class will be
having a taco dinner fundraiser from 11 a.m. to
2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, at the Roscoe High
School cafeteria. Seniors are currently selling
tickets. Prices are $6 for adults; $4 for chil-
dren ages four to 12; and children three-years-
old and under eat for free. Tickets will also be
on sale at the door the day of the dinner.
Proceeds will benefit the Senior 2009
Blowout.
