Thursday, March 5
Little League Tryouts
Sweetwater Little League tryouts for
players who are in Farm League, Minor
League and Major League will be held at 6
p.m. on Thursday, March 5, at Newman
Park. Late registration will be held that day
from 5-6 p.m. or persons can pick up regis-
tration forms from Chris Maxwell at 2010

Roscoe Town Hall Meeting
Roscoe citizens are invited to attend a
town hall meeting Thursday, March 5, at 7
p.m. at the community center. Residents
are encouraged to take part in discussion
topics including the upcoming census, a
July 4 celebration and the wastewater
treatment facility.
CERT Meeting
The Big Country Medical Reserve Corps
(CERT) will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday,
March 5, at H>" Rolling Plains Memorial
Hospital ER classroom. Training focus will
be on blood borne pathogens. The regular
monthly business meeting will also be held.

Retired School Personnel
The Rolling Plains Unit of the Retired
School Personnel Association will meet at
11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at the
Sweetwater Country Club. Lunch will be
served followed by the program which will
be presented by Mike Sheehan, trust officer
at First Financial Bank. There will be a
short business meeting after the program.
All retired teachers and school personnel
are invited to attend. For more informa-

Story Hour
Story hour for parents and their children
will be held at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, March
5, at the County-City Library. Dee Ann
Mulanax will lead the parents and children

Free Workshop
The Abilene Chamber of Commerce and
the Texas Tech Small Business
Development Center will be hosting a work-
shop on expanding your business through
government contracting. Representatives
from the Procurement Assistance Center in
Lubbock will give an overview on govern-
ment contracting. This workshop is free to
Abilene Chamber members or $10 for non-
members. This workshop is from 8:30-11
a.m. Thursday March 5. The workshop will
take place in the Texas Tech Conference
room located on the 6th of the Enterprise
Building, 500 Chestnut. Seating is limited
for this workshop so please call 670-0300
to reserve your space.
Friday, March 6
Lenten F’ish Fry
Immaculate Heart of Mary Church parish
council and Jamaica committee will nost a
Lenten Fish Fry from 6-8 p.m. Friday,
March 6, at the church located at 511 W.
Alabama. The cost is $6 per plate including
fried fish, hush puppies, coleslaw or chips,
dessert and tea. Tickets may be bought in
advance or the clay of the event. For more

Saturday, March 7
Rattlesnake Speedway
The new upcoming Rattlesnake
Speedway will have sign up from 10 a.m. to
1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Wal-Mart.
There will be different types of carts for
viewing. For more information, contact

WASP Museum
The National WASP WWI1 Museum's
"Women in Aviation Day" kicks off at 10
a.m. on Saturday, March 7, with a brunch in
the Seminar Room of TSTC. Featured
speaker is Dr. Peggy Chabrian, founder and
president of Women in Aviation
International. She’ll be sharing a talk
called "Would a Real Lady Fly an
Airplane?" Tickets are $25. Call
235.0099 for reservations. Also attending
the brunch will be an American Girl doll
dressed as WASP Hazel Ying Lee. Meg and
Molly Longwell of Houston will accompany
her. Carol and John Paul Cain are Meg
and Molly's grandparents. Other activities
include free airplane rides at Avenger Field
for students 8-17 years of age. A free open
house begins at the Museum at 1 p.m. with
lots of great activities.
Jump Rope Team
The Jump Rope Team will be jumping at
the Texas Tech girl's basketball game on
Saturday, March 7. Tickets are $3 and can
be purchased at Sweetwater Intermediate
School.
Sunday, March 8
Lighthouse Assembly
Crystal River, a gospel singing group
from Lubbock, will be in concert at 10 a.m.
Sunday. March 8. at the Lighthouse
Assembly of God church in Sweetwater.
The concert is open to the public and free
of charge, however, a love offering will be
taken to help defray the expenses of the
group. The church is located at 412
Newman Street. For more information call

Monday, March 9
FO-Mail Class
The County-City Library is offering a free
computer class from 9-11 a.m. Monday.
March 9. Mark Rawlings, library volunteer,
will help participants set up e-mail
accounts. Participants will also learn how
to use e-mails and its options. Class size is
limited. Call the library at 235-4978 for
reservations.
Tuesday, March 10
Masons
The Sweetwater Masonic Lodge #571 will
have a stated meeting Tuesday, March 10.
The dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the
meeting at 6:30 p.m. During the meeting
the lodge will receive DDGM John
Hamilton for his official visit. All Master
Masons are urged to attend. Visitors are
welcome.

Colt Pride Annual
The Sweetwater Middle School journal-
ism staff is selling 1/16 of a page in this
year's Colt Pride Annual to eighth grade
parents only. This is available tor parents
or a family member to put a quote or com-
ment in the yearbook. There are only 16
spaces available and they are $20 each with
a maximum of 250 characters including all
spaces, periods and commas. Ads must be
turned in by March 14 to the SMS journal-
ism class. Spaces will be sold on a first
come, first serve basis. Please make all
checks payable to SMS journalism.
Gun, Knife and Coin Show
The 49th annual Sweetwater Rifle and
Pistol Club gun, knife and coin show will be
held Friday, March 13 through Sunday,
March 15, at the Nolan County Coliseum
Annex. Show times will be from 9 a.m. to 6
p.m. Friday; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

First Baptist Church members will be
serving pancakes for breakfast for $4 at
