Direct Deposit Makes Sense

security income (SSI)
1; benefits makes even more
3; sense than ever before,
3- thanks to recent advances in
•; the direct deposit program,
"•Joy Crouch, Social Security
{•manager in McKinney, said
V today.
All financial institutions in-
evolved in the direct deposit
^program are now required to
?; have computer facilities to
5: allow electronic transfer of
>benefits. In addition, benefit
'payments which cover more
Jthan one month can now be
„ sent by electronic transfer
Z. rather than by paper check.
2 This insures that payments
» will be made quickly and safe-
ty to Social Security and SSI
Jr beneficiaries, Crouch said.
To switch from paper checks
to direct deposit, call Social
Security. Have available your
Social Security claim number
and a check or account state-
ment from your financial in-
stitution, Crouch said.
The McKinney Social
Security office is located at
503 N. Kentucky St. The of-
fice is open 9:00 to 4:30.

period of time between now
•ad through January 1,1990,
when ao many things are tak-
ing place.
My goodness, the local
Chamber of Commerce, with
the cooperation of a fine
group of merchants, have
seen to that. Consider this:
•
For your convenience, many
of the stares and shops will
be open late Thursdays each
week between now and
Christinas. They'll be open
every Sunday afternoon
throughout; and don't forget
the mammoth Christmas
Parade scheduled for Satur-
day, December 9 at 10:15 in
the morning. All during this
time there will be special
events like drawings for gift
certificates, cash prizes, etc.
Further entertainment calls
for hand bell choirs, carol
singsongs and the like. For
further details, check with
your C. of C. office or watch
our newspaper for dates and
times.
And you can always count
on the community's live,
wideawake churches to be in
the forefront with a variety
of season's observances. You
owe it to yourself to watch
for these special programs,
keep their dates and times in
your mind and attend them.
You’ll find them inspiring
and worthwhile.
Service clubs throughout
the city, the Wylie Women's
League, Garden Club, and
numerous other organiza-
tions all are poised to have a
hand at making the entire
month one long gala affair.
Truly, “Tis the season.....!"

THIS and THAT: The
Holland Hitch open house the
other afternoon gave us an
opportunity to visit with a
number of the execs of the
company as well as see many
of our friends. We were hap-
py to visit with Jerry Vander-
wall, who returned to
Holland, Mich, a couple or
three years ago. He came here
originally with the firm and
was instrumental in helping
the plant locate in Wylie
where he was in charge of
sales for Texas and several
surrounding states. He is now
in the same capacity out of
the home office in Holland.
We were happy he could
make the company’s tenth
anniversary party and we
send our best to his wife,
